A county tradition
The county fair is the oldest kind of event in a place like this, older than the festivals and the fun runs, and Morrison County still does it right. Held in late June at the fairgrounds on the edge of Little Falls, it draws thousands from across the region for four days that mix agriculture, competition, and grandstand noise.
What happens
The heart of the fair is agricultural: 4-H and open-class livestock, exhibits, and the competitions and judging that farm families plan their summer around. Around that core runs the entertainment. The grandstand carries the loud stuff — a demolition derby, truck and tractor pulls, and other motorsports — along with live music, and the midway and food stands fill the rest. It is a working county fair, not a theme park, and that is the appeal.
The fairgrounds
The Morrison County Fairgrounds double as one of the area's main event venues the rest of the year. The summer Pierz Freedom Fest music festival is held here too, so if the grounds look familiar from one event, that is why.
